The College of Business and Information Technology had its First Parent-Teacher Association General Assembly with the theme “Journeying in Intentional Discipleship” on August 10, 2019 at the Mere Maria Hall with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy student, Ms. Amzelle Diego Laspinas, as the lady of the program. It started with the doxology by the selected students from CB-IT that the reading of the Holy Gospel by Ms. Joanna Rose P. Deciar, CPA.
Sr. Joseline R. Lasala, SPC, the University President, greeted everyone with excitement and vigor which was then followed by the presentation of School Administrators, CB-IT and Advisers, Administrative Assistant and SAP done by the CBIT dean, Mrs. Cristina O. Jumawan, CPA, MBA. She also presented the CB-IT Student Officers as well as the CB-IT PTA Officers and Representatives for the school year 2019-2020. She also conducted the giving of certificates of gratitude to the CB-IT Officers and Representatives and was assisted by Mrs. Mary Joan Fortugaleza, MBA. Afterwards, an intermission number performed by the Lip Sync Champions from the JPIA (Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants) Competition last July set the mood for the day’s program.
After their very energetic performance, once again the ever-dynamic Mrs. Jumawan presented the Accomplishment Report for the school year 2019-2020. Mr. Eleno C. Flores Jr., the outgoing PTA President presented the PTA President’s Report and Mrs. Heraclea Cabugnason, the PTA treasurer presented the PTA Treasurer’s Report for the preceding school year. A splendid intermission song number was then performed by a selected student from the HRM-Tourism Program that left the audience in amazement.
Mrs. Grace Alejado, MIT, presented the CB-IT Policies, Plans and Programs that gave much information and enlightenment to the parents about the amazing life that their children will have in the CB-IT for the school year. The Guidance Services that will really help and guide the students throughout their stay at St. Paul University Dumaguete was showed through a video presentation. Ms. Joanna Rose P. Deciar, CPA also presented the Scholarship Programs that the Scholarship Office is offering. Moreover, the parents were oriented by a video presentation about SIMS which included discussions about the Kiosk, ADAM and Online Services that the university is offering. Engr. Ma. Carol P. Tubog discussed about the Data Privacy Act that will protect the personal data of the students stored on computers or in an organized paper filing system of the university. Mr. Rolando D. Cornelia also discussed and gave helpful tips on one of the very significant things of today, safety and security.
Furthermore, the First Place, Incorporated introduced the U.S. Summer Work and Travel Program that most of the CB-IT students are eager of. Subsequently, the parents were given the chance to ask questions through an open forum. All the parents were very happy and thankful as they were then given sacks of rice, groceries, and cash as gratitude for their trust in the university. The program was then concluded with a prayer led by Ms. Aizel Roshane Sienes. But that does not end the day; there was still a part two of the First PTA General Assembly. Parents had their meeting per program that gave them much information about how their children are treated very well in their respective programs.
The First CB-IT PTA General Assembly indeed oriented and explained to the parents of the CB-IT students how their children are being holistically formed in SPUD and how the CB-IT enthusiastically establish and prepare for the activities, be it academically or non-academically for the school year 2019-2020. Definitely, it was one great gathering between the parents and the faculty that showed their fine association and trust with each other.
