St. Paul University Dumaguete hosted this year’s Accountancy Week Celebration with the theme “Promoting Integrity, Advancing Excellence.” There were five participating schools—Silliman University, Asian College, Negros Oriental State University, Foundation University, and St. Paul University Dumaguete. The celebration started on the 19th of July with a lecture on the Board of Accountancy (BOA) updates with one of the BOA members himself, Gervacio I. Piator, being the guest speaker at Hotel Essencia. The lecture focused on the board exam subjects and some specific topics included in the exams.
On the following day, 20th of July, a street parade was held. A band showdown allowed the participants from St. Paul University Dumaguete, Camanjac, and Taclobo to showcase their skills in welcoming the participants of the said event as they entered the Fr. Louis Chauvet Hall. The activities that followed were the Torch and Banner presentation, Acoustic Bandakada, and the newly-introduced event, Spoken Poetry.
On the 21st of July, adopting the value of Christ-centeredness, the activities started with a Morning Praise. There were different sports events, namely basketball, volleyball, and badminton. There were also mind games such as the Quiz Bowl, chess, and speed computation. Other activities held were the speed typing, trash to fashion, and polo shirt design. Two of the most highly-awaited events were also simultaneously held on this day with participants anticipating to witness their most prized music video presentations and cheer for their favorite Mr. and Ms. Ambassadors of Goodwill 2018 candidates. The bets from the different participating universities and colleges were seen in their corporate attires. The candidates vying for the much-coveted title showcased their talent and exemplified their wit as they answered the questions of the Board of Judges. In the end, it was the representative from Silliman University who won the crown and title.
The last day of the week-long celebration, 22nd of July, jumpstarted with a holy mass at the St. Paul the Apostle Chapel, followed by the Swimming Competition, championship games, “Sing Tanong Sing Sagot,” and Pop Dance Competition.
As customary, the Accountancy Week celebration commenced with the awarding ceremonies, with Asian College garnering the fifth place, St. Paul University Dumaguete garnering fourth place, Foundation University bagging the third place, Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) coveting the second place, and Silliman University besting everyone and turning out as overall champion.
