  • Paulinian Student Leaders Congress in Dumaguete

    St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) hosted the 11th Tertiary Paulinian Student Leaders Congress (TPSLC) from June 22 until June 26, 2016 anchored on the theme “Paulinian Leaders: God’s Compassionate Shepherds” participated by student leaders from the different Paulinian Educational Institutions under the St. Paul University System (SPUS) namely St. Paul University Philippines in Tuguegarao City, St. Paul University Manila, St. Paul University Quezon City, St. Paul University Iloilo, St. Paul University Surigao City, St. Paul University Dumaguete and St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur.

    Dr. Roberto Condrado O. Guevara was invited to deliver the keynote address during opening program. He is an Associate Professor of Theology at the Ateneo de Manila University and the Associate Dean for Student Formation of the Loyola Schools. He was awarded the Henry Lee Irwin Memorial Teacher Award in 2012 by the Ateneo de Manila University for his excellence and dedication to his profession and for his outstanding service to the Filipino youth. He holds a doctoral degree in Theology with a field concentration in Scriptures, and taught courses on the Theology of Liberation, the Catholic Social Vision, and the Old Testament. In these various capacities, he has facilitated the engagement of students with various marginalized groups and communities and oversees the development of a more integrated student formation program at the Loyola Schools.

    A City Tour was organized from the SPC Marker along the Rizal Boulevard, where the First Seven SPC Sisters landed in 1904, to other historical landmarks and sites in the capital city.

    Series of lectures and sessions, clean – up drive, leadership camp, tree planting, development planning, community outreach, family immersion, actual selling of balut & tempura at the City Boulevard, and talent expo were scheduled to add more color and meaning to the said congress.

    Some Sisters and School Officials of the above-mentioned Paulinian Educational Institutions also came to witness the TPSLC in Dumaguete.
