“We don’t call the qualified; we qualify the called.”

The old Paulinian Student Government (PSG) officers wrapped up a three-day Annual Operational Planning (AOP) and Leadership Training anchored with the theme “Mainstreaming Interculturality in Paulinian Leadership: Solidarity Begins When Individualism Ends” held in the Grade School Audio-visual Room last July 17-19, 2018. The AOP objectives aim to prepare the new PSG officials to qualify for the call of servant leadership, to prepare and plan for student development activities and community extension series for school year 2018-2019, and to establish bond and oneness among the new set of Paulinian Student Government officers that will lead the Paulinian Community as well.

    Day 1 (June 17, 2018)
Registrations started at 7 o’clock in the morning in the Grade School (GS) Audio-visual Room (AVR). At exactly 8:15, Day 1 of the AOP started with a prayer and the reading of House Rules. The new PSG officers introduced each other with the GTKY (Get To Know You) activity that was later followed by an informative talk about the academic year’s theme given by Student Affairs Office (SAO) Manager Mrs. Maria Rowena Masicampo.

The new PSG Officials did the Chain of Commitment Activity. Each one was given the privilege to write from their own heart and fullness of their mind how they perceive becoming a servant leader. It was then all attached together forming a colorful chain that symbolizes unity and strong commitment that deflects the negativity that may be encountered and strengthens the bond with each other. The meaningful activity was followed by a memorable final message of the outgoing SAO Manager, Dr. Richard Pascua, and outgoing PSG President, Reynalene Rose Ceynas.

The activity resumed at 1 o’clock in the afternoon with a talk by Dr. Pascua. It was followed by the Team-building Activity testing the group’s patience, initiative, and teamwork. The first session of the talk was on the Paulinian Student Government University Calendar of Activities for S.Y. 2018-2019 and PSG Constitution which was presented and elaborated by Angelo de Guzman and Darryl Fuentes.
The long and productive day ended with the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) and Bonfire Activity headed by Kimberly Dequien and Lora Mission.

    Day 2 (June 18, 2018)
The morning started with a Morning Praise, followed by the synthesis for the previous day, reflecting on what they learned and gained from the series of talks and activities.

Mrs. Lea Sicat-Reyes gave a talk about Leadership Commitment and Focus followed by the 2nd session on the Paulinian Student Government (PSG) Manual and Handbook Revisiting.

Graduate School professor and former Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) University President Dr. Henry A. Sojor talked about ‘Establishing a Culture of Leadership.’ The day ended with the last session which was the planning for Major Activities and Reporting of Initial Plans for Paulimpiad 2018.

    Day 3 (June 19, 2018)
The third day also started with the Morning Praise. Then the synthesis of the previous day followed. The Awarding of Certificates of Participation for each PSG officer ended the day’s event.

The Annual Operational Planning and Leadership Training indeed prepared the new PSG officials to qualify for the call of servant leadership and establish and prepare for the activities and community extension services for the school year 2018-2019.
