St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) was able to host a seminar on Laboratory Management and Safety in an Educational Laboratory last August 10, 2018 at the MAT Conference Office. This was organize through the University President, Sr. Joceline Lasala, SPC; in cooperation with the Materials and Inventory Management Systems Manager (MIMS), Mrs. Helen Cubalan and with the OIC of the Research Office, Mrs. Irish S. Udtohan.
The seminar’s resource speaker was Ms. Crispina Floresca-Cordova. She is the Head for Science and TLE Laboratories and at the same time the Pollution Control Officer of St. Paul University Quezon. She is an expert to this field as a Chemist by profession. Her topic during the seminar includes Laboratory Design and Processes, Safety Practices in the Laboratory, and Laboratory Housekeeping.
This seminar workshop was attended by personnel in-charge of laboratories and Science teachers from SPUD, University of St. La Salle of Bacolod City, Negros Oriental State University of Bayawan campus, Foundation University, Silliman University, Dumaguete Science High School, Negros Oriental High School, and Colegio de Sta. Catalina de Alejandria. The rationale of the seminar is to give assistance to schools who wish to enhance laboratory services especially those working on accreditations and be environmental complaint. This seminar’s aimed to enhance the management skills of participants on Laboratory as well as on safety skills.
