St. Paul University-Dumaguete have observed the solemnity of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven, and at the same time, blessed the newly-renovated College Library, College of Business and Information Technology (CBIT) Hub, and College Computer Laboratory, last August 15, 2019.
As part of the annual observance of SPUD to a significant event in the life of one of its^^ models, the Paulinian community have once again gathered to pray and give reverence to Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ. The Assumption is a holy day of obligation for all Roman Catholics who believes that the Assumption of Mary is the teaching that: "the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory" a teaching that was infallibly defined by Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950 in the "Munificentissimus Deus". The said activity started with an in-campus procession, visiting on the path, the different grottos of the Holy Mother situated inside SPUD.
The event congregates Paulinians, both students and faculty/staff/personnels from the different College Departments and as well as the Basic Education Department, in a crusade of candles and rosaries, armed with the prayer of the Holy Rosary along the way, to pave way for the institution^^s intentions, and especially for the intention of peace amidst the unprecedented havoc that creeps our province. A Eucharistic Celebration concluded the celebration, presided by Rev Fr. Clyde Flores, University Chaplain, which have transpired in St. Paul, the Apostle Chapel.
Afterwhich, Fr. Clyde also has conducted the blessing of the newly-renovated College Library, CBIT Hub, and Computer Lab, after it had underwent major changes for these past few months, transforming it to become more conducive and state-of-the-art.
With the highlights of the said renovations, the new College Library now has become more colorful and attractive to those students who want to study in an environment that relaxes and at the same time amuses our eyes.
Sporting the addition of new dividers, aesthetic designs, and modern structure feels inside, the library will surely captivate Paulinians. Sr. Joseline R. Lasala (SPC), who have supervised and overseen the entire renovations herself, have attended the blessing, and have welcomed the Paulinian community in such a momentous event of the institution. Mrs. Pablita P. Munar, College Librarian, is just as equally excited with the students in catering them inside the College Library.
The Library fulfills its role as the “heart or nerve center” of the University for academic activities revolve around it. It performs two complementary goals, to support the academic programs of the University and to reinforce the research activities of the faculty and students. For the institutions vision and mission, the Library contributes directly by equipping the students with skills and knowledge that they need to achieve their academic potentials and employability in the future. It subscribes to EBSCO Information Service’s hosts and Technology Academic and Research Based Openly Operated Kiosk Station (STARBOOKS). It is also a repository of the National Statics Authority and Bangko Central ng Pilipinas publications.
The new College Library, CBIT Hub and the Computer Lab are just part of the University^^s promise to exert efforts in continual dvelopment for SPUD to really give quality Paulinian Education and school services.
