The Hotel and Restaurant Management-Tourism Program under the College of Business and Information Technology (CBIT) hosted the lecture “The New Trends in Tourism Marketing” last July 24, 2018 at the Grade School Audio-Visual Room.
The Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP) National Director Mr. Ramon F. Sun was the event’s resource speaker.
With tourism considered as a fast-evolving industry, the lecture focused on the new trends in the hospitality and tourism industries and how to cope with the said trends. Furthermore, Sun emphasized the need to attract customers’ attention by engaging in and making new experiences. He strengthened his claim by saying that Starbucks franchise stores in Shanghai sought to entice customers through technological advancements.
New marketing trends have greatly evolved today and are already within people’s reach. So, the HRM-Tourism students, being millennials and would-be practitioners of the hospitality and tourism industries, were encouraged to benchmark new experiences.
Sun reminded the students to always remember that it’s not all about functionality but about development of the proportion of relationship and the experience that they may gain. He further encouraged the students to be innovative and to always think and see things differently in order to stay relevant in the industry. According to him, it helps to be unique with a purpose.
The said talk was organized by selected fourth year students under the seminar class of Ms. Janice Cuevas, College of Business and Information Technology (CBIT) faculty.
