The Professional Regulation Commission announced on November 2, 2017 the total percentage of the lucky aspirants who were able to pass the October 2017 CPA Licensure Board Examination given by the Board of Accountancy in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi Lucena, Tacloban and Tuguegarao. Out of the 14,816 aspiring examinees who took the board exam, only a total number of 4,511 were able to pass the said examination. The said examination was participated by accountancy graduates from different colleges and universities all over Philippines.
St. Paul University Dumaguete, one of the most esteemed universities of Dumaguete City, acquired a total passing rate of 34.78 % in the October 2017 CPA Licensure Examination. The university had a total of 23 examinees composed of 17 first-timers and 6 repeaters. 6 out of the 17 first-timers passed the board exam with 4 conditional while 2 out of 6 repeaters were able to succeed. The 8 new CPAs are Angel Mariz Culi, Cherry Lou Culi, Daniel John dela Peña, Paul Jun Sabaysabay, Charlene Gaile So, Lorenze Solana, Khendra Rotone, and Kate Janelle de Jesus. The 8 newly licensed CPAs of St. Paul University Dumaguete were warmly welcomed and congratulated by the university last November 8, 2017 as they held a tribute with the theme, “It’s a slow process, but quitting won’t speed it up.” The said tribute was participated by the 8 new CPAs, the program chair of SPUD’s College of Business and Information Technology, Mrs. Christina Olis Jumawan, CPA MBA, Miss Joanna Rose P. Deciar, CPA, and the college and senior high school students who also dreams of becoming a successful accountant someday. The new CPAs wear all smiles as they shared the bittersweet experiences they have experienced during their journey in becoming a CPA. The event was then ended by a dinner held at the University’s very own Café Paolo together with the university’s faculty and staff and 4th year BS Accountancy students.
