In a testament to the ingenuity and dedication of its young minds, St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) has once again placed the city on the global map by clinching top honors at the prestigious International Creativity and Innovation Award (ICIA) 2024. On May 14, 2024, The Dumaguete City Council, in its 87th regular session of the 32nd Sangguniang Panlungsod, adopted Resolution No. 109, Series of 2024, commended and recognize the outstanding achievements of the SPUD student delegates.

The ICIA, a prominent event that fosters creativity and innovation among young innovators worldwide, was held as part of the United Nations' World Creativity and Innovation Day. The 2024 competition was hosted by King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 28, 2024. SPUD made a significant impact by winning Gold in both the Innovation Award and Innovation Challenge categories, a feat that highlights the institution's commitment to excellence in education and innovation.

The victorious students from SPUD's Basic Education Department included Zyrich M. Amigo, Alenea V. Duka, and Gabriel Eon Q. Paguio from the Junior High School Team, and Krisha Anne B. Jumawan, MBA-HTM, not only brought pride to their school but also to the city of Dumaguete, the province of Negros Oriental, and the entire nation.

The City Council, led by Councilor Jose Victor V. Imbo and co-sponsored by Councilor Antonio J. Remollo, emphasized the importance of recognizing such achievements to foster and encourage the academic talents and creativity of the city's constituents. The resolution acknowledges that these students' success is a reflection of the quality education provided by SPUD and serves as an inspiration for others to strive for excellence.

City Vice Mayor and Presiding Officer Ma. Isabel L. Sagarbarria, along with the City Councilors and Secretary to the Sanggunian Lilian B. Torres, expressed their heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to the students and their coach.

This commendation underscores the importance of supporting and celebrating the academic and creative endeavors of young individuals, highlighting how their achievements can bring honor and pride to their communities and the nation as a whole.
