College of Nursing's Prison Ministry: Spreading Health Awareness Behind Bars

On August 22, 2024, the Community Extension Services (CES) headed by Mrs. Jessica Arangorin together with the College of Nursing took a significant step in promoting health education and awareness among the Persons Deprived with Liberty (PDL) at the Negros Oriental Rehabilitation Detention Center (NORDC). As part of its prison ministry initiative, the department sponsored a health teaching program focused on hypertension, flu, and other common health diseases.

The program, aimed at empowering PDL with knowledge on disease prevention and management, was well-received by the prisoners.

The event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the College of Nursing faculty and staff, along with volunteers from the NORDC.
