Strengthening Support: SPU Dumaguete & Bayawan City Division Unite for Suicide Prevention Training

For the third time, St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPU Dumaguete) partnered with the Bayawan City Division to enhance mental health awareness. The recent training, "YOU MATTER: Recognizing and Responding to Suicidal Signs," focused on equipping Guidance Designates and Advisers with essential skills in recognizing warning signs and risk factors of suicide. A total of 89 participants attended, showcasing a strong commitment to mental health education.

Participants engaged in exercises to enhance communication, develop helping skills, and simulate crisis responses—emphasizing the importance of support networks. "Our goal is to empower educators to act effectively as first responders in mental health crises," stated Ms. Jeneviev Deang, Guidance Director.

Special thanks to Mr. Persee James Baybay, RN, MAN, Division Mental Health and Psychosocial support service Program Coordinator- Nurse 2, for his invaluable support in making this initiative possible.

This initiative reinforces the commitment to mental health awareness and suicide prevention in the community.
