What an incredible start to our week-long immersion program! Today kicked off the highly anticipated Academic and Educational Exchange between our Graduate School faculty and the esteemed professors of Universitas Sanata Dharma (USD) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This exchange isn't just about academics; it's a rich sharing of cultures, building deeper understanding and collaboration between our two nations.

Our team received a truly warm welcome from our host institution, led by the wonderful Dr. Caecilia Tutyandari, Vice Rector for Collaboration and Alumni Affairs. Her excitement to finally meet our team in person was clear and set a fantastic tone for the day!

The program began with captivating performances that showcased the rich cultural heritage of both universities. USD graced us with an enchanting cultural dance, a beautiful display of Indonesian artistry. Our very own SPUD team then charmed everyone with a heartfelt song rendition, commemorating the Tagalog classic "Minamahal" by Freddie Aguilar and the beloved Visayan song "Usahay" popularized by Pilita Corales. It was a moment of shared melodies and cultural appreciation!

The academic exchange portion of the day was equally engaging. Dr. Ike Janita Dewi a professor from Universitas Sanata Dharma presented the wonders of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, offering our faculty a deeper insight into the local culture and environment. In turn, Mr. Alexander Baena unveiled the hidden beauty of the Philippines, particularly the Negros Island Region, sharing unique perspectives from our homeland. Adding to the discussions, Dr. Ayeza Cathrina Tinagan presented the collaborative initiatives of our Graduate School with other partners, highlighting our commitment to broader academic engagement.

Dr. Tichie Ann Baena, Dean of the Graduate School, delivered heartfelt words of gratitude, eloquently relaying the journey of how this partnership began and expressing the deep appreciation in her heart for this collaborative opportunity.
