SPUD College of Arts, Sciences and Education Students and Head of Community Extension Services Bring Hope Through Monthly Prison Ministry

In a remarkable display of compassion and commitment to community service, students from the College of Arts, Sciences and Education (CASE) have joined forces with Ms. Jessica Arangorin, Head of the Community Extension Services, to conduct a monthly prison ministry at the Negros Oriental Detention & Rehabilitation Center.

This monthly activity aims to bring hope, education, and spiritual guidance to the person deprived with liberty (PDL), while also providing students with valuable opportunities for personal growth and social awareness. The monthly visits consist of facilitated bible sharing sessions and structured learning through interactive games, fostering a nurturing environment for all participants.

During the visit, CASE students take on the role of facilitators, guiding PDLs through bible study sessions and engaging them in educational games that promote critical thinking, teamwork, and personal development. These activities not only provide intellectual stimulation for the PDLs but also help them build stronger connections with their fellow participants.

The College of Arts, Sciences and Education, along with Ms. Jessica Arangorin and the dedicated students involved in the prison ministry, are commended for their unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of those who may have lost hope. Their efforts serve as an example of the power of education, compassion, and community service in transforming lives and fostering a more just, compassionate and humane society.
