Mrs. Irish S. Udtohan, a faculty of St. Paul University Dumaguete, recently made a significant impact at the 8th Global Botanical Garden Congress held at the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Center in Singapore from August 5 to 10, 2024.

Mrs. Udtohan presented her research titled "Youth Engagement in Botanic Gardens: Implications for Biodiversity Conservation in the Philippines" at the prestigious event. The research paper highlighted the importance of involving young people in botanic gardens as a means to promote biodiversity conservation in the Philippines.

As a board member of Siit Arboretum Botanical Garden, Inc., Mrs. Udtohan represented the organization alongside her role as a founder of Lingganay Environmental Youth Camp, a program that aims to educate and engage young people in environmental conservation.

The opportunity to participate in the Global Botanical Garden Congress was made possible through Botanical Gardens Conservation International, which recognizes the importance of global cooperation and collaboration in conservation efforts.

The 8th Global Botanical Garden Congress brought together experts from around the world to share their knowledge and experiences on botanical garden conservation, sustainability, and education. The event provided a platform for participants to discuss and learn about innovative approaches to conservation and community engagement.

Mrs. Udtohan's participation in the congress is a testament to the commitment of St. Paul University Dumaguete to promoting excellence in research and education, particularly in the field of environmental conservation.
