St. Paul University Dumaguete Education Students Experience Cultural Immersion in Thailand
A group of Education Students from St. Paul University (SPU) Dumaguete recently embarked on a cultural immersion trip to Thailand following their Pre-Service Teaching Experience in Local Partner Schools. This initiative provided them with the opportunity to explore Thailand’s rich culture and diverse educational methodologies.
During their month-long exposures, a trip was done to allow students to visit several notable sites, including the Bangkok Art and Culture Center, showcasing various forms of art from paintings to handmade jewelry. They explored the iconic temples of Wat Pho and Wat Arun, as well as the Gem and Jewelry Museum, which highlighted Thailand’s craftsmanship. The students also toured the Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, steeped in rich history.
“This cultural immersion has been an eye-opening experience,” said Gene Mervon Endrina, a fourth-year education student. “It deepened our appreciation for diverse teaching environments and cultural expressions.”
As part of SPU Dumaguete’s commitment to developing globally-minded educators, this pre-service teaching experience and immersion trip have equipped students with new perspectives that will enhance their teaching practices. They returned with lasting memories and a renewed passion for education in an interconnected world.
